Thickness monitoring for piping, vessels and tanks

From a spreadsheet of thickness readings to remaining life and next inspection dates in an afternoon.

NDT Interval keeps a permanent register of your assets and their thickness measurement locations, every reading ever taken at them, and the arithmetic an inspector or integrity engineer needs done on it: corrosion rates, remaining life and the date each location is next due. Every figure opens to show the readings, the formula and the limit it came from.

  • Your Excel history in, row by row
  • Every figure shows its working
  • Your clients see it free

NDT Interval is in private preview and being built now. Invited companies try it first, signed in with the same account as every app of Intact Apps.

How it will work

Built in this order during the preview. Each step opens to invited companies as it is finished.

  1. Bring the history in

Upload a client's spreadsheet, wide or long, in millimetres or inches. Map its columns once, see every row that did not fit and why, and confirm. Each date becomes a survey.

  2. Enter a survey

A keyboard-first grid, one row per location and one column per position, the previous reading beside each cell and a hint as soon as a value looks wrong. Readings count once a reviewer confirms them, and are never edited afterwards: a correction supersedes, with a reason.

  3. See the figures

Short- and long-term rates, a best fit, remaining life and the retirement date, per position, location, circuit and asset, against the limits your engineers entered.

  4. Plan the next visit

Due lists by client, site, circuit and method, with access and insulation notes, frozen as a campaign for the crew, and a monthly email of what is coming due.

Arithmetic you can check

Every figure opens to show where it came from

A rate, a remaining life or a due date is always shown with the readings it was worked out from, the formula with its numbers, the limit and the policy it used, and who entered each. Printed the same way. Nothing is hidden in a black box, so an inspector can check it by hand.

  • Required thickness typed with its basis, or worked out from your own allowable stress and joint efficiency
  • Rate and interval policies of your own, versioned: a change never rewrites the past
  • Who entered each reading, who confirmed the survey, and every correction with its reason

The working, for the example

Readings
DateThickness
Mar 15, 20189.40 mm
Mar 15, 20219.10 mm
Mar 15, 20248.65 mm
  1. Short-term rate: (9.10 − 8.65) mm over 3.00 years 0.150 mm/y
  2. Long-term rate: (9.40 − 8.65) mm over 6.00 years 0.125 mm/y
  3. Governing rate: the greater of the two, by the rate policy 0.150 mm/y
  4. Remaining life: (8.65 − 5.20) mm at the governing rate 23.0 years
  5. Next inspection: the earlier of half the remaining life and the policy's longest interval Mar 15, 2034

Example figures. Indicative: the calculations are not yet independently reviewed.

One register for the contractor and the owner

The history belongs to the asset, not to the project. It lives for the life of the plant, across every contractor and year.

For inspection companies

Keep each client's register, enter or import the readings after a survey, and hand the client trends, due lists and reports instead of a table in a PDF.

  • Client users are free and unlimited
  • Due lists become the next job
  • Every client's register kept apart, each with its own sites

For plant owners and operators

Small terminals, tank farms and process plants without an inspection data system: hold the register yourselves and let your contractors add their readings to it.

  • Your own company is your one client
  • Several contractors, one history
  • Start from the spreadsheets you have

Also on the way

After the register, the figures and the due lists.

Corrosion maps

Coming

Grids as heat maps with the lowest cell marked, and two scans compared cell by cell.

Drawings with pins

Coming

An isometric or P&ID with a pin per location, coloured by its status.

Issued reports

Coming

Survey reports and data sheets, frozen at issue, printed in up to four languages with a code anyone can check.

Required-thickness calculators

Coming

Pipe, shell, head and tank course, from the figures your engineer types, each stored with its inputs.

The client's own view

Coming

Share links with expiry and password, then named client users, all free.

Twenty-one languages

Coming

The family's interface languages, with reports in up to four of them.

It reports. People decide.

NDT Interval never declares equipment fit for service, safe or rejected. It works out figures against the limits and policies your engineers entered, flags what crosses them, and shows where every number came from. No allowable stresses, maximum intervals or acceptance limits are shipped from any standard: you enter your own, with their basis.

Before any figure is relied on, the calculations are reviewed by a certified pressure-equipment inspector, named on the record. Until then every figure says it is indicative.

Flags, not verdicts

  • At or below the required thickness
  • Inspection overdue
  • At or below the alert thickness
  • Due within 90 days
  • A reading above the previous one
  • No required thickness entered

Each flag says what crossed which limit. What to do about it is your engineer's call.
